That two class room school I went to when I was five years old. on the corner of Harringay and Kingstanding roads
I think it had a small play ground at the front and the windows were high and you could not see out of them. My wife
also went there in 1940 for one year, she thinks it was re opened during the war as annex, for Peckham road school
It looks like it is now a shop called Iceland and next door to it [ that used to be the Midland Bank is now LLoyds ]

I have just noticed “kingstanding Standing Day Nursery” in the column to the right and a posting by by “BG” which describes exactly as I new it . I new it as Kingsvale, and I also remember the children resting on camp beds

i went to that nursery in the 82 it closed that year and moved to kingsland school

I used to go to the nursery that stood where Iceland is today. I went there in 1971 – 1972. There was a big play area at the back. I remember sleeping on camp beds after lunch.
I also remember the building of the play area next to the nursery. So many memories rekindled by this site.

I went to kingsvale nursery. I even remember my coat peg. – it was a drum pic. I enjoyed the craft activities and playing on the seesaw in the garden and being the pig in the straw house in a play!

Was this nursery over the road from cardinal wisemans school as i was there around 1949 before i went to the nursery at Peckham road
