Memories of Frances Fletcher from 1950’s in the Twickenham Rd area

Memories of Veronica Marshall from the Haringay Road area

When I was at Junior school we used to play outside in the street, games such as hop scotch, spin the top and ball games.  Across the main road there was an unused field where we used to play exploring and climbing an old wall.  Later a new Roman Catholic church was built, and the field became a playing field for the school.  When I was older I had homework every night, (I attended King Edward VI Grammar School for Girls in Handsworth.)  However I did meet with my friends every Thursday evening as we had the afternoon free on Thursdays.  We met at each other’s houses and played records.
