The Deer’s Leep

Memories of the Deer’s Leep on Queslett Road East.

  1. My uncle Richard (Dick Taylor) played crown green bowls for The Deers Leep, I think he was quite good as he went on to play for his County. He als o played billiards at Kingstanding billiard hall. He lived at Ringinglow Road near the Horns of Queslett. Does anyone remember him from the Deers Leep.

  2. Who is this this could be the same dick Taylor that played for Sutton park ?

    • Hi Beth, so sorry I have only just seen your query today, I have looked several times but kinda gave up but I am really happy to answer your question. I am Shirley Thain (nee Bartram) and I lived in Twickenham Road. My uncle Dick was married to Maisie and had 3 sons Alan Norman and Roy and lived on the Pheasey Estate, sadly my aunt died very young and Dick eventually remarried a lady named Hilda and they lived in 100 Acre Road Streetly. I have lived up north for more than 40 years but know without doubt that my uncle and his new wife continued to happily for many years so Dick could quite well have played for Sutton Park. I was in the Bannersgate area 3 months ago wIth 2 old school friends, do you or did you live in that area? I am sorry I did not see your message before but I did notice it was posted on what would have been my 59th wedding anniversary. I do hope that my uncle is or was who think it was and would like to hear from you. shirley.

  3. I am the son of pat Baker who lived in Kingstanding or her life but I am trying to track down Barry Grimmer if anyone can help, it would be greatly appreciated

  4. It depends how long you are going back.We lived in Queslett road and as children we often went to the grounds to watch our Dad play lawn bowls. This brings back many happy memories of the summer months our Mom always dressed us nicely lovely white ankle socks and shoes.those were such happy days.My Dad’s name was Fred Evans going back to the 40s & 50s.
