Victory Gospel / The Emmanuel Community Church

Victory Gospel / The Emmanuel Community Church off Kingstanding Circle

The church today

Memories of William Smith

This building was erected on the site about 60 years ago when it was brought from Erdington. The present Church was established in 1985 and Emmanuel Community Church was the name registered with the charity commission in 1990. The church took a major role in the development of Community life within the Kingstanding area being involved in starting the Fun Run, continuing the Kingstanding Carnival as well as arranging a number of Fun Days in 1992 the church moved to the Kingstanding Community Association Building which were next to Wheeldon Recreation Grounds and for many years, till its forced closure, was involved in the management and worked very hard to keep the building open for the residents of Kingstanding. The church now owns two other buildings in the area – what used to be Kings Road tabernacle and also the church building in Goodway Road. These buildings are being brought up to the necessary standards and will then be used for the benefit of the local residents.

  2. […] Today the web site had it’s first comment. It was on the Emmanuel Church off Kingstanding Circle. https://kingstanding.wordpress.com/ammenaties/churches/the-emmanuel-community-church/ […]

  3. This building in Kettlehouse Road, Kingstanding has been on this site for a lot longer than 60 years. I started to attend the Sunday School at this Victory Gospel Hall when I was 8 years old in1954 and the building had been there then for a considerable length of time. I lived in Dormington Road, opposite the Hall and attended the Hall for about 8 years.

    • hi. interested in your comments about Victory Gospel Hall.
My Late Fathers Grocery Shop was Next door ” Allgoods”. can vagely remember some names of folks who attended church at this time. I was born while we had shop in 1944.

      • Hello Joyce, I remember the grocery shop next to the Hall very well. I thought it was owned by a Mr Morgan. Are we both talking about the same shop?
