  1. Ah here is my school, Peckham Road, I started , I guess when I was five
1941. I remember my first day at school, and I can still wander around the buildings in my minds eye.

  2. I lived in Caversham Rd untill the age of eleven. I was a pupil at Peckham Rd infants School, i remember Mrs Bloxham the headmistress and mrs Rawson who taught the choir that i was a member of.does anyone remember mrs Cole or miss Marks who i were taught by. Mr Terry Walters and Mrs Diane Laws were my Junior teachers and we had a great Headmaster name Mr Phillips. We moved to Halsbury Grove Warren Farm, but i stayed at Kings Rise Secondary School for all my senior education . thats a long time ! and its a shame the school is no more .

  5. I wish I remembered more..
I was born in 1936, I lived in Peckham road, so it was a short walk to school for me.. I had an older brother, Alan Latimer.
so I guess I started school at 5? I remember my first day at school, I remember getting my 11 + results and rushing to tell my mum who was a dinner lady..

I can still see , in my minds eye , my first day at school, with Miss Bloxham, so how come it is said that she was evacuated?

I can sstill see, in my minds eye, getting my 11+ results and dancing outside the door to the dining room? and waving to my mum.. I can still see , in my minds eye, the wooden class rooms over to the right hand side of the playground,, I lost time at school due to measles or some such child hood illness and missing out learning my 7 , 8 and 9 times tables, learning by heart.

I recall there were two Miss Allens` ?? one was very strict, one was a softer kind of teacher??? Miss J,Allen and Miss I Allen, (not sure of the second one though)

I can recall my older brother making me play truant, and running , bent double along the railings , so no one would see us..

I can recall the School Board Man coming and telling my mum we had played truant.. (My dad was away in the army)
